List Building on a Budget
"Build a list" is standard advice. "Build a list with no money" is the actual question beginners need answered. Here's how, cheapest first.
The $1/day method: daily lead systems deliver ~100 fresh leads a day to your account, usually with a built-in mailer, for about a dollar a day. It's the cheapest reliable traffic on the internet and it works on day one with zero skills. If you can afford one thing, afford this.
The free methods, ranked by effort-to-result: First, be useful in public — answer questions daily in one Reddit community, Facebook group, or forum in your niche, linking to your lead magnet (not your offer) where genuinely helpful. One thoughtful answer a day compounds. Second, short-form video — 30–60 seconds, one tip, posted daily on one platform for 90 days. The algorithm rewards consistency more than quality at the start. Third, SEO blogging — one article a week answering a specific question. Month one: nothing. Month six: traffic while you sleep.
The conversion layer matters as much as the traffic: every method must funnel to an opt-in page with a specific lead magnet. Traffic without capture is entertainment, not business. Your opt-in page needs a headline, three bullets, and an email field — that's it.
The budget rule: spend under $35/month total until your first commission. That constraint is a feature — it forces you to learn the free methods that build real skill, instead of buying your way past the learning.
